Alliance International Shipping offers 20, 40, and 45-foot cargo containers for shipment from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic. Customers can select to ship either a full container load (FCL) or a less than container load. An FCL contains only that customer’s shipment, while an LCL contains multiple shipments in the same cargo container.

What do I Need Before I Ship My Container?

Alliance International Shipping makes obtaining the proper forms and registration a worry-free process by providing clients with the necessary documents prior to shipping to the Dominican Republic.

One of the main documents is the Bill of Lading, which proves that we have received clients’ cargo before shipping. Upon arrival at the destination port, the Bill of Lading acts as a proof of shipment. The information in the Bill of Lading includes the receiver and consignee of the cargo shipment, a declaration of contents, and the size, weight, number, and seal number of the container.

AIS will request a detailed packing list of the items in your container. The packing list should include the number of contents and the size, weight, etc. of the cargo in your shipment. Clients will also need a commercial invoice to prove the sale of the cargo and give the price of each item. A certificate of origin will required for each export good to demonstrate the country in which the cargo contents were manufactured or produced.

Lastly, clients will need a letter of credit, which includes the terms for payment for the shipment between the seller and the receiver.
